AAP05-Feb-2003Australia’s World Cup cricket match against Zimbabwe remains in limbo.Players voiced their concerns with officials from the Australian CricketBoard (ACB) and the Australian High Commissioner in Zimbabwe at ameeting tonight in Potchefstroom, South Africa, to discuss fears aboutthe game in Bulawayo on February 24.ACB chief executive James Sutherland said Australia was still preparedat this stage to play the game but the situation in Zimbabwe wouldcontinue to be monitored.”It was just another exercise for us in spending time with the playersto further discuss the issue that we’ve got at hand,” Sutherland said.”There’s no hiding from the fact that the players do have some concernsabout Zimbabwe.”What we’re trying to do is make sure that they have as much informationas possible in front of them before we go to Zimbabwe.”We’re committed to working through a process with our players andmaking sure they have all the information in respect to safety andsecurity.”Sutherland said one option available for the team was to restrict theamount of time spent in Zimbabwe before the game.Australia is scheduled to spend four days in Bulawayo but Sutherlandsaid that could be cut back to even include flying into the country onthe morning of the game and flying out that night.
